Private Charles Graves is buried in the tomb of the known soldier in Rome, Ga. He gave his life for our country in the 1st world war.

After a parade in New York, attended by none other than President Harding, the plan was to lay him to rest in Arlington near the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. His mother objected and had his remains brought home. There is a beautiful memorial at the Myrtle Cemetery in downtown Rome.

If not this Memorial Day, perhaps someday you can stop by and show your respect.

Religious Freedom is uniquely American and perhaps our best export. The freedom of conscience is at the core of what it means to be an American. There is a reason it is mentioned 1st in the 1st Amendment to our constitution.

Manufacturing is a key component of Chattanooga’s history and economy. Today, I toured Moon Pie Factory with Gov. Lee and Rep. Reneau. This family owned legacy company was started in 1917.

Gov. Lee is visiting companies that have a unique history in the Volunteer State as a part of his America 250 Tour. I was honored to welcome him to the best of Tennessee’s 95 counties.

Congratulations to the 2026 graduating class at Hixson High School. It was a privilege to present House Joint Resolutions signed by Governor Lee and others to Valedictorian Hiba Shahbaz and Salutatorian Kylee Am. These resolutions forever mark the historic occasion of these 2 scholars academic accomplishments.

It seems like ancient history when I received my diploma from Hixson High School in 1981.

Proud to attend the graduation celebration of Soddy Daisy High School. My oldest graduated from there 19 years ago.

Proud of my friend Ryan Jenkins, the class president. He has a bright and certain future.

One of the reasons I won my election so big last cycle was Ryan put up signs for me all over the district. He was a big part of our team. I can’t wait to watch all he does in our community and beyond.

Great time celebrating the scholars at Sale Creek High School who graduated tonight. I presented State House Joint Resolutions honoring their Valedictorian, Miss Laurel McCuiston, and Salutatorian, Mr. Landon Mims. These documents were signed by the Governor and others. They will forever be in Tennessee’s historical archives.

Miss McCuiston gave me an idea earlier this year for a new law. I presented this idea to my colleagues and got it through a key committee but didn’t get it over the finish line. It was a learning experience for both of us.
