If you are driving Hixson Pike near the Thrasher Pike intersection, you will see this sign. After 70+ years at our location at 5201 Hixson Pike, the HUD Board of Commissioners recently voted to proceed with construction of a new home for Hixson Utility District. Shovels are expected to break ground on this project in June.

Additional information on the project and other news from Hixson Utility is available in our 2026 Consumer Confidence Report. You can now view the report at the following link: https://www.hixsonutility.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/CCR2026.pdf.

The water main break at the intersection of Dayton Blvd. and Ivanwood Drive has been repaired. Our crews are currently in the process of restoring water service to the affected areas.

As service is restored, you may experience temporary low pressure or air in your lines. We recommend running cold water until it clears. Crews will be flushing lines over the next several hours. The water remains safe to drink.

We appreciate your patience as our crew worked diligently to complete the repair and restore service as quickly as possible.

Good afternoon. Our crews are currently responding to a water main break on Dayton Blvd. at Ivanwood Drive. Unfortunately, this will be affecting a large portion of our service area with either low pressure or interruptions in service. At the moment there is no ETA on when repairs will be completed, though we do anticipate this taking several hours. We appreciate your patience, and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

As we are now billing usage from January, we are starting to see an increase in homes possibly experiencing leaks. This could be related to the extremely cold temps we experienced last month.

When it comes to stopping leaks, every second counts. Minor leaks now WILL become major leaks in time if left unrepaired. Signs you can look for include:
- Water in your yard in unexpected places, especially on a dry day;
- A decrease in water pressure in your home;
- A sound of running water even though showers, dishwashers, washing machines, etc., are not being used

With almost 30,000 customers, HUD cannot identify every property that has a leak. If you're seeing any of the issues above, or have an unexplained increase in your water consumption, please take action. Also, make sure to review your invoice. Most customers will have meters capable of identifying continuous usage, which will automatically print a *Possible Leak* banner on your invoice.

If you fear you may have a leak, visit our Potential Leak page at the link below, or give us a call during business hours at (423) 877-3513.

Extremely cold weather is expected again this weekend! Please drip any faucets you think could be affected. As always, you can visit our website at the link below for more cold-weather tips and resources.

If you know a pipe will be exposed to freezing temperatures, leave a nearby faucet slowly dripping with cold water & keep pipes under a sink warm.

🚨SINGLE-DIGIT TEMPS TONIGHT 🚨

Just wanted to post this one more time, as we are expecting our lowest temps tonight, at least for the next few days. Make sure you are prepared to avoid frozen pipes. Please remember, Hixson Utility is not responsible for, and cannot assist with, any water leaks or frozen plumbing on private property.

Rock Bluff Road, 3PM update: our crews have finished repairs on the water main. Please be aware, we have flushed hydrants in the area as part of our standard procedures. We are using salt to minimize any icing effects, however, with temps still below freezing we are urging everyone to use caution.

Once again, thanks to everyone affected for your understanding!
