Today, firefighters and emergency responders from across the area came together at Deluxe Towing for an extensive vehicle extrication training exercise focused on handling a variety of complex rescue scenarios.

The training was led by Instructor Jimmy Litteral, who provided hands-on instruction covering multiple techniques for safely extricating patients from challenging situations. Scenarios included a vehicle over an embankment requiring the use of rope rescue systems to raise a Stokes basket, a head-on collision, a vehicle resting on its side, and a vehicle versus RV collision.

Participants gained valuable knowledge and practical experience that they can take back to their respective departments and apply in real-world emergency situations. Training began at 10:00 a.m. and continued until approximately 2:30 p.m., with members remaining engaged throughout the day.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Deluxe Towing and Austin McCall for allowing us to use their facility and for the tremendous effort put into setting up realistic training scenarios. Their support played a vital role in making this training a success. Thank you to Jimmy Litteral for taking time out of his day to instruct us.

We also want to thank all agencies that participated, including Grayson Fire Department, Norton Branch Fire Department, Hitchins Volunteer Fire Department, Flatwoods Fire Department, Carter County EMS, and Carter County Emergency Management. We appreciate the attendance and support of Emergency Management Director Jason Gillum as well.

Training like this strengthens our partnerships, improves our skills, and helps ensure we are prepared to provide the highest level of service to our communities when called upon.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this training possible.
