Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, stepdads, grandfathers, mentors, and father figures in our community.

Thank you for the sacrifices you make, the lessons you teach, and the example you set every day. We also extend our appreciation to the fathers serving in law enforcement, emergency services, the military, and other professions that often require time away from family.

From all of us at the Hitchcock Police Department, we wish you a safe and happy Father’s Day.

Today, the Hitchcock Police Department joins our community and nation in recognizing and celebrating Juneteenth, a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates freedom, resilience, and progress.

Juneteenth holds special significance in Texas, where on June 19, 1865, news of emancipation finally reached enslaved people in Galveston, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued.

As we honor this important day in our nation's history, we encourage everyone to reflect on the values of freedom, equality, and unity that continue to shape our communities.

From all of us at the Hitchcock Police Department, we wish you and your family a safe and meaningful Juneteenth.

Thank you to the Hitchcock Chamber of Commerce for hosting today’s Small Business Hurricane Preparedness Workshop and for bringing together local business owners, community leaders, and city representatives to discuss storm readiness.

Assistant Chief Evans alongside Mr. Thomas (City of Hitchcock Director of Public Works) and Mr. Cross (City of Hitchcock Director of Community Development) discussed practical steps businesses can take before a storm, including protecting property, safeguarding important records, and preparing for business continuity following a disaster.

During the presentation, we outlined the role of the Hitchcock Police Department during severe weather events, including emergency response priorities, public safety considerations, and the importance of staying informed through official emergency communication channels. Preparedness tips designed to help business owners, employees, and their families remain safe before, during, and after a storm were also shared.

Hurricane season is a reminder that preparedness is a shared responsibility. Taking proactive steps today can make a significant difference in protecting lives, property, and the long-term success of our local businesses.

Thank you again to the Hitchcock Chamber of Commerce for hosting this important event and for their continued commitment to supporting our business community. Also a special thank you to AMOCO Federal Credit Union for sponsoring the event and providing lunch.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated in our First Annual Classic Car Parade. We truly enjoyed spending time with the community and seeing such an incredible lineup of classic vehicles on display. Events like this remind us of the pride, passion, and connection that make our community special. We are grateful to all the participants, volunteers, and spectators who helped make the day a success. We look forward to building on this tradition and seeing everyone again at the next event.

Hurricane season is here, and now is the time to make sure you and your family are prepared before any storm threatens the Gulf Coast. Take a moment to review your emergency plan, confirm evacuation routes, and ensure everyone in your household knows where to go if an evacuation is ordered. Keep important documents protected and easy to access, and make sure you have enough food, water, and essential supplies to last several days. Check your emergency kit, include medications, flashlights, batteries, and chargers, and don’t forget plans for pets. Stay informed by monitoring trusted weather sources and local emergency alerts so you can act quickly if conditions change. If you rely on generators, be sure they are used safely outdoors and away from windows to prevent carbon monoxide risks. Preparation now can make all the difference when a storm is approaching.

It's the official start of Atlantic Hurricane Season.🌀

Texans, it’s time to get ready y’all. Hurricane season runs June 1st through November 30th.

Pack a kit. Make a plan. Practice that plan.

On Saturday, May 30th, members of the Hitchcock Police Department, accompanied by their families, had the privilege of attending the Honor Flight welcome home celebration at Houston Hobby Airport.

Honor Flight Houston provides veterans with the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials built in honor of their service and sacrifice. This most recent flight included veterans who served during World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the Cold War. Upon their return, they were welcomed home by hundreds of grateful citizens, family members, first responders, and supporters.

One of the highlights of the day was meeting Vietnam veteran Benjamin "Bruce" Clawson. Mr. Clawson shared stories of his military service and his career in law enforcement. What made the encounter especially meaningful for our officers was learning that he once served as Chief of Police for the Hitchcock Police Department from July 21, 1984, until August 10, 1987.

It was a humbling experience to stand alongside our nation's heroes, thank them for their service, and welcome them home. We are grateful to Honor Flight Houston, the volunteers, and everyone who helped make this special day possible.

To all veterans—past and present—thank you for your service, sacrifice, and commitment to our country.

Reminder that the community Car Parade is happening this weekend, and we hope to see everyone out enjoying the event and supporting our participants.

Following the parade, there will be an informal “show and tell” gathering at the Hitchcock High School parking lot where attendees can take a closer look at the vehicles, meet participants, and continue the fun.

We encourage everyone to come out, enjoy the atmosphere, and help make it a great community event. Please drive safely and be mindful of traffic along the parade route.

Hitchcock Police Department Classic Car Parade

The Hitchcock Police Department invites the community to join us for a Classic Car Parade on May 30, 2026 at 9:00 AM.

As officers, we regularly see classic and historic vehicles throughout our city, and we wanted to create an opportunity for owners to bring them together and share them with the community.

Have a classic vehicle?
If your car is from 1901–1999, you’re invited to participate. Texas recognizes vehicles 25 years and older as “classic,” and we’d like to showcase them.

To register, email:

Parade Route:
The parade will begin at Bulldog, continue to Highway 6, and proceed west to 4th Street.

We encourage residents to come out, line the route, and enjoy the event.

We look forward to seeing you there.
