If you are a fan of the New River, you would love to visit where it starts. I went to West Jefferson, NC, and took 80W toward Trade, TN. I did not have time to go to the start of the North Fork of the New, but, I was close. The New grows rapidly in it's journey.

Our Summers County Camping camp grounds, Bertha, Cedar Branch, The Mouth of Indian Creek and Shanklin's Ferry! They are leased from the Army Corp of Engineers. The Summers County Commission - WV manages them and Robert Bennett is da man that oversees them. It's a 7 days a week job, the county uses motel, hotel tax to subsidize them. The Summers County Commission stays busy taking care of the peoples business.

I've been around Camp Summers WV for years, this is the best it's looked the day before our Summers County 4-H residential camp. New bathrooms and septic at pool area, new septic for dinning hall area. Grounds are weedeated. Thanks to Zack, our director, our Camp Summers employees, the Summers County Commission - WV for managing the peoples money and property wisely, all the volunteers that built the Council Circle! Is there more to do, yes, improvements take money and time.
