We tried multiple times to get a Book Launch video event up and running. Nothing we have tried works. I can get on "Live" by myself, but not with my co-host Mike Wilson. We are researching how we can continue "Gripping Reality" as a podcast. We may have to pay for Kajabi or Zoom or some other platform. IDK. Very frustrating.

Anyway, the point of a Book Launch is to inspire supporters and friends to purchase a "large" number of copies on the Launch Day or shortly thereafter. This affects the Amazon algorithm to "notice" a marketable product, and promote it to others. You've seen it: "People who bought this product (which you just bought) also bought that product..." And you get deluged with ads for similar products or services.

If you are NOT in the open market for all that other stuff, you get torqued by the ads... but if you ARE in the open market, you find deals, surprises, and other options! You LOVE it!

The Amazon algorithm possibly knows more about you and your preferences than you do. Few people analyze all their purchases in the last several years and see patterns, similarities and themes. But Amazon does. So do all the other "social" media. (They're not really "social media" at all - they're "marketing media with a social bait and hook."

I won't bore you with a zillion details. If you bought a copy of "Reality Intelligence," either POD or e-book editions, first of all, THANK YOU! I am not into just selling books as if they were poolside novels. I have developed the ideas and tools in RI over my entire 50+ year career in working with people all over the world. My doctoral degree is based on this research. Dealing with all kinds of situations, and helping others with their complex and challenging situations, all comes out of RI. [0 weeks - 0 days - until our local TSE today, April 8, 2024] Welp, this is it. All the planning, discovery, preparation, anticipation... it all comes down to the chance of weather, particularly cloud cover.

Saturday? PERFECT! Sunday? PERFECT! Today? PERFECT... somewhere else. The local news is predicting the storm advancing across the country will push cloud cover here over Rochester. Gah!

Now, that said, it still might not be deep clouds, but a thinner cirrus ice clouds we can see the sun through. And the clouds could be broken up. And they might be lesser up closer to the lake.

But, this is it. I've written for almost 2 years, and provided a lot of links to discover cool stuff about eclipses, the science behind them, the experiential part.

Beyond all that, there's an immense amount of religious, astrological, mystical, and just plain crazy fervor surrounding eclipses. I'm not presenting any of those aspects. But they're out there. And either seriously intense, or just plain ridiculous.

In the contiguous United States, there will be a TSE in N. Dakota in 2044 (20 years) and another cross-country one - California to Florida - in 2045. I'll be 92 then. It will pass over my Florida house in Lakeland.

I won't write a note every week until then. That's like 1000 weeks away.

[Just 14 days - 2 weeks - until our TSE!] A lot of people are expressing "eclipse exhaustion," tired of hearing about it, warnings for it, waiting for it, preparing for it... that's too bad. This will prove itself to be a lifelong memory for those of us in its direct path.

The Towns of Sweden, Clarkson and Parma will have the CENTERLINE of the moon's 116-mile wide shadow pass through our neighborhoods. Nowhere else in all of Monroe County will have that privilege... or penalty, as you might see it.

The actual moon floating in space around the earth is around 2000 miles wide. So, the curvature of the moon's shadow as the top edge passes through Parma will be experientially "flat." For at least 10-15 miles on either side of the center, it will still appear to be a straight line - it really won't be noticeably longer or shorter across that distance.

Maybe 20 or 30 miles out, the eclipse will be perceptible shorter because of the moon's curvature. At 40 or 50 miles out, the eclipse will be much shorter in duration. And at 58 miles off the centerline, only the edge of the moon's shadow will block the sun briefly.

Weather is not predictable two weeks out. The negativists are sure it will be overcast and we'll see nothing. The problem, of course, is if everyone who bears responsibility for safety and provision did nothing because they're convinced it will be cloudy, and hoards of people still come here, and the skies cooperate or don't, it still will be a crazy event.

Just so you know, virtually every hotel room is sold put in this area.

Be ready. Get food and beverage and paper products on hand by Wednesday or Thursday next week. If there's no gridlock, you're set. If there IS gridlock, you'll still be set.

[Three weeks - only 21 days - until our local TSE] In seven days from today, we will also experience a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse. The moon passes through the penumbra of the earth's shadow, not the umbra totally dark area. In fact, an edge of the moon will still be in the sun's bright light! BUT, you have to stay up very late on Sunday, March 24, because that eclipse will be from 12:40 AM with the darkest point being around 2:45 AM...

Our Total Solar Eclipse will pass through the Town of Parma around 3:20 PM, high in the upper western sky. It will last around 3 minutes and 38 seconds here... we are at the centerline of the 116-mile wide shadow. That goes from just above Elmira to just below Toronto.

Lots of cities and people will be in this path, so check at the end of this note for the tracker.

[28 days - 4 weeks - to TSE] Some of us weirdos have been studying and preparing for the Total Solar Event for five years... or even more! But if you're just coming on board, it's not too late. Whether we all are completely prepared, over-prepared or way under-prepared, only the event itself will reveal it.

The Rochester Museum and Science Center is the epicenter of information and training for all the events surrounding the eclipse itself. The penumbra will begin here in Monroe County about noonish - the moon's leading edge will start covering over the sun's disk. But so long as the sun even has 2% uncovered, it will still be too bright to look at!

When totality comes - the umbra of the shadow - that's when it will get very fascinating. The air will cool. Animals will act strangely. Colors like reds and greens will appear different. If we can see the sun's disk, the corona of the sun - the extremely powerful outer atmosphere of the sun itself - will appear around the moon. It will never be "pitch black dark" like a moonless and clouded midnight.

Of course, the pessimists figure it will be clouded and probably snowing on Monday, April 8, 2024 around 330p here in western NY. You can research all previous April 8ths and it still will not give you an exact idea about what will be the weather here on that coming date at that time.

This morning, for example, was cloudy and snowing at 530a. the cloudless and sunny at 830a. Now hazy and partly occluded by clouds at 1030a. You'll just have to wait and be as prepared as possible. If it's clouded over, well, there will be another one in North Dakota in 2044, so you can hold onto your glasses until then.

"Normal people just want to be somewhere in the totality, but the centerline spots are absolutely prime for a certain kind of person. Just be aware.
