Hilton Head Island Early Childhood Center HHIECC opened in January 2006. We believe in the power of parents as partners. We value the inquiries of children as much as we value the answers.

We believe in the “whole child” and in providing opportunities for children to express themselves through symbolic languages, music, movement, art knowledge and dance. We value self-sufficiency as expressed by students developing competent decision- making skills

What is your favorite part of working at this school?
"The satisfaction of resolving issues for teachers, staff and students."
What inspired you to become an educator or work in education?
"I initially was a Teachers Assistant and became intrigued by technology."
What is your go-to coffee or snack to get through the school day?
"My go to coffee French roast and any apple or pecan pastry."
What is your favorite school tradition or yearly event?
"The Christmas party and the end of year party"
What do you like to do for fun when you are not teaching?
"Bowling and Church or sitting on my deck"
What is one piece of advice you have for your students?
"Be a sponge and soak up as much knowledge while you can."
What is your favorite project to work on throughout the school year?
"My job is my project."

It is Arts in Education Week - and we have the best teachers at HHI ECC! Meet Mrs. S, our music teacher! She is sweet, patient, and so fun with our little ones!
What is your favorite part of working at Hilton Head Island Early Childhood Center?
“Having fun making music with the kids.”
What inspired you to become an educator?
“I loved music and wanted to teach it and share it with other people.”
What is your go-to coffee or snack to get through the day?
“Sweet tea and granola bars”
What is your favorite yearly tradition or school event?
“The first day and last day of school!”
What do you like to do for fun when you are not teaching?
“Jigsaw puzzles and watching baking shows on TV, most of all being with my family.”
What is one piece of advice you would give to your students?
“Never give up on your dreams!”
What is your favorite project to work on throughout the school year?
“Practicing for performances.”

Mrs. Marshall and Mrs. Rehse’s Montessori Classes talked about acts of kindness and the characteristics of a hero. Both classes worked together to create a flag using their handprints and hearts with ways to be kind written on them. We also held a moment of silence in remembrance of 9/11/01🇺🇸.
