Sea Pines Forest Preserve

Covering more than 600 acres, The Sea Pines Forest Preserve is our natural treasure and is the largest tract of undeveloped land on Hilton Head Island.

Hiking, fishing, picnicking and wildlife viewing opportunities are just a few of the popular activities that can be found in the Sea Pines Forest Preserve. Rules and Regulations:
- The Forest Preserve is open sunrise to sunset.
- No smoking or open fires are permitted.
- Bicycles are not permitted on the walking trails. Please park your bicycles at the locations provided.
- The picnic area on Fish

Island is equipped with a shelter, picnic tables, grills, drinking water and portable toilets.
- Swimming is not permitted in the Forest Preserve.
- Dogs are allowed, but must be restrained by a leash at all times and kept away from the water's edge.
- Pet waste must be properly disposed of in trash receptacles. Important Safety Tips Regarding Alligators in Sea Pines:
- Assume every body of water contains an alligator
- Stay at least 60 feet (4 car lengths) away from alligators
- Alligators are ambush predators and can move faster than you or your pets
- Keep pets and children away from water’s edge
- Swimming or wading is prohibited in Sea Pines’ waterways
- Feeding or harassing alligators is dangerous and illegal
- Use caution when fishing or crabbing. Do not throw used bait or fish parts into the water

🔥UPDATE: THE BURN REFERENCED BELOW IS PROCEEDING

A prescribed burn has been tentatively scheduled for tomorrow, April 7, in the Sea Pines Forest Preserve near the Trolley Station (Lot #1) off Greenwood Drive. The burn is scheduled to begin between 9:00 AM and noon, and the Forest Preserve will remain open, but access to the burn area will be restricted.

Parts of the community may see or smell smoke during the active burn and potentially into the night as mop-up operations are conducted.

Please note this schedule is based on the most current weather forecast, and the decision to conduct the burn will not be made until tomorrow morning. Updates will be posted to our website at seapinesliving.com/prescribedburn.

There is a possibility that parts of the community may be able to see or smell smoke during the active burn and potentially into the night as mop up operations are conducted. The Forest Preserve will remain open during the prescribed burn, but access to the burn area will be restricted. Please note this restricted area surrounds the Shell Ring (i.e. there will be no access to the Shell Ring during the burn).

The prescribed burn is anticipated to start between 11am and noon today and should be completed by late afternoon.

A prescribed burn has been tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, March 11. There is a possibility that parts of the community may be able to see or smell smoke during the active burn and potentially into the night as mop up operations are conducted.

The Forest Preserve will remain open, but there will be a restricted area near Lake Joe. Please note this restricted area surrounds the Shell Ring (i.e. there will be no access to the Shell Ring during the burn).
