This is an important Department of Water Supply (DWS) message for Thursday, June 4, 2026.

Customers in the affected area will have no water service from about 10:30 a.m. today to this afternoon while DWS crews repair a water main break on Kula‘imano Road.

Upon resumption of water service, the waterlines will be flushed and cleaned, during which time affected customers may notice turbid and/or discolored water. Customers may also notice trapped air in their plumbing, which will be released as they initially use water.

Emergency Water Shut-Off Notice for Milo Street, Kea‘au Customers

AFFECTED AREAS: ALL SERVICES ALONG MILO STREET, INCLUDING KEA‘AU MIDDLE SCHOOL AND ALL SIDE ROADS AND LANES; KEA‘AU, HAWAI‘I

Water will be temporarily turned off in the above-mentioned area from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, to perform emergency repairs to a leaking waterline. Please note this is a new date for the originally scheduled work announced previously.

A DWS water tanker will be stationed on Milo Street at the dead end located on the west side of Kea‘au-Pahoa Bypass Road.

Affected customers are asked to take any and all precautions necessary to protect their property and facilities including, but not limited to, disabling electrical power to pumps and/or any other devices whose normal operation may be dependent on water pressure and/or water supply, and which might be damaged if automatically energized during the water shutoff.

Also, affected customers should set aside drinking water ahead of time to meet their essential water needs until normal service resumes.

Upon resumption of water service, the waterlines will be flushed and cleaned, during which time affected customers may notice turbid and/or discolored water. Customers may also notice trapped air in their plumbing, which will be released as they initially use water.

This is an important Department of Water Supply (DWS), County of Hawai‘i, message for Wednesday, May 27, 2026.
Effective immediately and until further notice, the Department of

Water Supply has issued a Water Conservation Notice for customers in the aforementioned areas. A Water Conservation Notice requests affected customers reduce water usage by at least 10%.

Water conservation is necessary to maintain adequate water storage while DWS performs emergency repairs to a water tank damaged by the May 22 earthquake.
Performing the following steps will help to conserve water:
• Wash only full loads of laundry and dishes
• Check faucets and pipes for leaks
• Do not let water run when washing hands, shaving, or brushing teeth
• Reduce showering times

All affected water customers should limit water use for dust control and irrigation. Find other water-saving tips by clicking on the “Conservation” tab at www.hawaiidws.org.

Pepe‘ekeo Water Main Break REPAIRED

Repairs have been completed to the water main break in Pepe‘ekeo, restoring water service to affected customers. Normal water use may resume.
