Hillsville Fire Department The Hillsville Fire Department is a Volunteer Department with approximately 50 active and organizational members and run approximately 500 calls a year.

On 9/13/26 at 2027 Hillsville Fire responded to I-77 north at the 21.7mm for a passenger vehicle on fire. Command arrived to find one vehicle fully involved. Engine 2 arrived shortly after and began fire suppression. VDOT SSP was set up prior to the scene assisting with a right lane closure when a tractor trailer failed to stop in time and went off the right side of the highway, up a small embankment, almost overturning. The driver self extricated and was uninjured. There were also no reported injuries from the vehicle fire. Squad 1 arrived and assisted with both scenes and they were turned over to VSP for investigation. Also on scene was CCFR.

On 9/10/26 at 0638 Hillsville Fire responded to the Hillsville Bypass East for a tractor trailer on fire. Squad 1 arrived to find the trailer portion on fire near the rear tandems. One attack line was placed in service and the fire was knocked down shortly after. Tanker 1, Engine 3, and Support 1 arrived to assist in extinguishment. Minimal extension to the load of produce was found. Also assisting on scene was CCFR, HPD, and CCSO.

On 8/18/26 at 0700 Hillsville Fire responded to I-77 North at the 9.2 mile marker for a single vehicle rollover accident with entrapment. CCFR Rescue 12 arrived first to find one vehicle off the roadway, behind the guardrail, and on its top. Rescue 12 confirmed entrapment and began extrication. Squad 1 and Engine 3 arrived and assisted in extrication and removing the sole occupant. CCFR Medic 5 transported one patient to a local hospital with NLT injuries. Also assisting on scene was CCSO and VSP who is investigating the crash.

On 8/9/26 at 1753 Hillsville Fire responded to I-77 southbound at the 16.5 mile marker for a two vehicle crash. Command 1 arrived to find a passenger car that had struck a tractor trailer and was lodged underneath the trailer. The single occupant was out of the vehicle upon arrival. No injuries were reported on scene. Squad 1 and Engine 4 checked for hazards and assisted the tow company with freeing the vehicle from the trailer. Also assisting on scene was CCFR and VSP who is investigating the crash.

On 8/8/26 at 1806 Hillsville Fire responded to the 4000 block of Coulson Church Rd for a structure fire. Galax Fire was dispatched 2nd due. Command arrived to find a single story single family dwelling with smoke showing. Squad 1 and Engine 4 arrived and placed one attack line in service. The fire was located in a back bedroom with the door shut, keeping the fire contained to the room of origin. All searches proved negative. The residence was ventilated and all fire units cleared shortly after. No injuries were reported. The scene was turned over to the Fire Marshal’s office for investigation. We appreciate the assistance on scene by Galax Fire and CCFR.

On 8/4/26 at 1512 Hillsville Fire responded to I-77 northbound at the 22.5 mile marker for a vehicle fire. Squad 1 arrived to find one pickup truck with heavy fire showing. One attack line was placed in service and the fire was quickly extinguished. No injuries were reported. Also assisting on scene was CCFR and VSP.
