The Hillsdale Fire Dept accepted delivery of our brand new 2026 E-One Cyclone HR-100 Ladder last night, which will replace our aging 1999 American LaFrance.

Over the coming weeks, members will be training and mounting equipment on it to prepare it for service.

Thank you to our Mayor and Council for allowing us to purchase this new state of the art apparatus and for supporting the hillsdale emergency services.

Thank you to salesman Mike Thomasey and absolute fire for making this purchase and the entire process as smooth and seamless as possible.

8.10.26 Station 27 was alerted on the Battalion 7 Box Alarm for a Reported Fire in the kitchen of a commercial establishment on Hillsdale ave. 27-1 arrived with smoke showing and found a rubbish fire in the kitchen. 27 engine 1 arrived, quickly knocked down the fire and checked for extension along with 27 Engine 2. 67 truck arrived and assisted in ventilation.

Any questions about the incident shall be directed to the Office of the Fire Chief or the Office of the Fire Marshal.

The Battalion 7 Box Alarm consists of an Extra Engine & Truck into Hillsdale, Westwood, & River Vale for any reports of a fire and any emergency in a highly occupied building. (school, hospital, healthcare facilities, etc.)

In coordination with Jonathan David , the HFD’s Swiftwater team was activated to standby at the Glendale/Washington Bridge for Flooding. FD/OEM units evacuated 1 family from the affected area. Fire, Police, EMS, and OEM are always at the ready if any emergency should occur in a flood area.

Shortly before 1:00 a.m., the Hillsdale Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 116 Piermont Avenue.
Upon arrival, Chief Farrell found the residence heavily involved in fire and immediately requested a Working Fire Assignment, bringing mutual aid companies to the scene to assist with firefighting operations. Due to the significant volume of fire encountered upon arrival, crews operated in a defensive mode for approximately 25 minutes while master streams were deployed to knock down the bulk of the fire and prevent extension to nearby exposures. Additional mutual aid resources provided manpower, apparatus, and water supply
support throughout the incident. Firefighters worked diligently under challenging conditions to bring the fire under control.
There were 6 minor injuries sustained during the incident, all were transported to local hospitals. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Hillsdale Fire Department would like to thank all mutual aid agencies, Bergen
County dispatchers, emergency medical personnel, and law enforcement officers who assisted at the scene.

The Hillsdale Fire Department is currently operating at a residential structure fire on Piermont Avenue.

Emergency crews remain on scene and operations are ongoing. Residents are asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes to allow firefighters and emergency personnel to work safely.
