Yesterday evening at Borough Hall, we had the honor of recognizing EMTs Rachel Brunn and Jim Clark, along with Hillsdale Police Sgt. Dave Sayers and PO Dom Speciale, for their incredible teamwork during a call that resulted in the safe delivery of a baby boy.

On April 6th, the team responded to a woman in active labor and, working together, safely delivered the baby at 6:17 AM.

This little boy made Hillsdale history as the first baby delivered (edited: by EMS and police officers) within the Borough in 22 years! 👶

We are so proud of our EMS and Police teams and grateful that both mom and baby are healthy and doing well.

NEW BOROUGH HALL OFFICE HOURS PLUS ADDED HOURS TO RECYCLING CENTER

As part of our ongoing effort to improve customer service for our residents, we have reviewed our current operating hours and staffing schedules and are making adjustments to better accommodate the needs and schedules of our residents.

We received feedback from contractors indicating that many prefer to visit Borough Hall early in the morning to obtain permits and complete necessary paperwork before heading to their job sites. At the same time, residents have expressed a need for extended evening hours so they can conduct Borough business after work, and more access to our recycling center.

As part of our review, we analyzed historical visitor traffic at Borough Hall and found that Friday afternoon visits have consistently been minimal. In contrast, early morning and extended evening hours have been among the most utilized and preferred times for both residents and contractors.

The revised schedule is designed to better align our operating hours with the needs of the community while maintaining efficient staffing and ensuring that our offices remain adequately covered throughout the day. Our goal is simple: provide better access, improve customer service, and make it more convenient for residents and contractors to conduct business with the Borough.

Due to the extreme heat today, Borough Hall will be open as a Cooling Center for anyone looking for a safe, air-conditioned place to cool down.

PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT

The Hillsdale Police Department is advising residents of a black bear sighting on the west side of town in the area of Ann Blanche Smith School.

Animal Control has been notified and is responding. Residents in the area are advised to remain indoors if possible and do not approach or attempt to follow the bear. Please keep children and pets inside.

Memorial Field is an Active Construction Zone!

Memorial Field is currently an active construction site, and for everyone’s safety, the field is closed to the public. Walking your dog or entering the field while construction is underway is not only prohibited, but also unsafe and irresponsible.

Please respect the restrictions and stay off Memorial Field until construction is complete and the field is officially reopened. Please also be advised that dogs will not be permitted on the field once it reopens.
