A period of dangerously hot weather starts today, with high temperatures reaching the mid to upper 90s. A heat advisory has been issued for areas from the Triangle to the south and east, where the heat index may reach 105F.

Town of Hillsborough offices will be closed on Friday, June 19, to observe Juneteenth. Residents whose garbage and yard waste are normally picked up on Fridays will receive service on Monday, June 22.

Last night, the board approved the town’s budget ordinance for Fiscal Year 2027, which starts July 1.

Before approval, the budget was amended to remove the proposed 2-cent tax increase. The town's tax rate will remain at 51.3 cents per $100 of valuation.

Several town employees met today to talk about preparing for hurricanes and operating before and after a hurricane or tropical storm. The hurricane season kickoff meeting occurs annually to help us be as ready as we can be when a hurricane or tropical storm comes our way.
