Before was the Ford with our old Fire Safety Logo, then the Fire District Patch, and now…it’s a Chevy! 😮‍💨 she looks good.

It’s all in a days work!

Here in Hillsborough we have Deputy Chief Yanko who serves as the towns Fire Official. FM’s Foelsch and Jerzewski as part of the Fire Marshal’s Office perform these duties daily as well as answering emergencies in town. Our staff in the firehouses assist with these duties as needed which is why you may see an engine or smaller truck at strip malls and other businesses around town.

During plan reviews for new buildings/developments you may see an FM and a firetruck as they check to ensure apparatus can drive through and position properly.

Fire officials play a critical role in keeping our communities safe every single day. According to the National Association of State Fire Marshals (NASFM), their mission goes far beyond fighting fires:

👨‍🚒 Prevention First – Inspecting buildings, enforcing fire codes, and reducing risks before emergencies happen.
🔍 Investigation – Determining the cause of fires and helping prevent future incidents.
📚 Education – Teaching the public how to stay safe through awareness and preparedness.
🏗️ Plan Review – Ensuring new construction meets fire safety standards from the ground up.
⚖️ Enforcement – Holding individuals and businesses accountable to protect lives and property.

Fire officials are the backbone of fire safety—working behind the scenes to prevent tragedy before it starts.
