The Board of Directors of the Hillsborough/Orange County Chamber of Commerce announced Thursday that it was cancelling the Chamber’s Annual Hillsborough Hogg Day event, effective immediately.

“After much discussion and analysis, the Board of Directors has determined that Chamber staff and volunteer time can be better utilized with activities more in-line with the Chamber’s mission,” said Jason Richmond, President of the Board of Directors. “While we are grateful to the community for its support of Hogg Day, the primary focus of the Chamber is to promote economic growth and quality of life.”

“Hillsborough Hogg Day takes a minimum of six months to plan and execute,” said Margaret Wood Cannell, Chamber Executive Director. “The number of hours our two-person staff and small band of volunteers invests is huge. If we can allocate that time and effort to membership services and promoting economic growth, we feel certain that our members and the business community will benefit.”

The Chamber Board of Directors wishes to express its gratitude to the organizations and individuals who have invested their time and energy into this community event throughout its 30 year history.

The Hillsborough/Orange County Chamber of Commerce is a private, non-profit organization that receives no funding from any government or public entity. It is entirely supported by membership dues and private fund-raising efforts.

Hogg Day began as an Independence Day celebration and fundraiser for the Hillsborough Area Chamber of Commerce. Over the years, it became Orange County’s largest and greenest event – spread over several acres in downtown Hillsborough and building a reputation of waste reduction excellence with up to 85% waste diversion.

Congratulations to Hillsborough Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine Pllc! They've been recognized as Level 3 Patient Centered Medical Home from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). Level 3 designation is the highest achievable recognition for a medial group. NCQA's Patient Centered Medical Home program recognizes physician practices that prioritize the strengthening of the physician-patient relationship, coordinate care for patients across multiple settings, and engage in a team approach to improve patient care.

Well done! Congratulations to Dr. Clepper-Faith and her staff!
