Last nights training focused on the role of the second arriving engine - which is to complete and support the water supply for the first engine that arrives and operates at a fire. Driver candidates took turns connecting to the Humat 4-Way valve which provided the ability to boost flow to the ladder truck. Training over the past week has included walkthroughs and standpipe operations at the new Brookhaven Hotel with our career staff. The incredible opportunity is as a result of the graciousness of the project manager who provided walk through tours earlier in the week before today’s hands on training. Vehicle extrication training was on the agenda last evening. The duty crew practiced with our new “tie back” kit to stabilize an overturned car and remove the roof. To set the scenario up, they first had to use their skills to flip the car on its side. Training on a variety of topics will continue as the warm weather is here.
