As you consider your choice of candidates, we thought it might be helpful to take the time to tell you who we are and why we enthusiastically endorse Bonnie Hauser, Michael Johnson, and Cindy Shriner to
serve on the Orange County School Board. Friends of Orange County Schools is a diverse group of stakeholders in our county’s public schools. We include OC natives and OCS graduates, transplants, the children of immigrants, and the descendants of the enslaved. We are white, black, Hispanic and more. We are at various life stages with wide ranging socioeconomic statuses. We live across the Orange County community and have different religious backgrounds or no religion at all. We are current and former educators, bankers, realtors, social workers, first responders, small business owners, mechanics, secretaries, customer service representatives, clergy members, military veterans, scientists, artists, musicians, and more. We are registered Democrats, Republicans, and the large majority, unaffiliated. We are active in the community through membership(s) in NAACP, PTAs, PTSOs, Churches, civic organizations, political organizations, and more. What unites us is we put the needs of students above everything else. We spent a lot of time vetting our current slate of candidates, asking them a lot of questions and having a lot of candid discussions. We have members that attend every school board meeting to evaluate how each board member engages and votes.
