Caught Using WICOR! We love celebrating the amazing instruction happening across our school, especially when teachers are embracing AVID strategies that empower students to think, write, collaborate, and engage deeply with learning.
Shout-out to Teacher Evans!
Students in Teacher Evans’ class used writing and collaboration to strengthen their narrative drafts through peer feedback. Using their interactive notebooks, students created “Strengths” and “Wonderings” charts, then rotated around the room reading each other’s work and leaving meaningful, constructive feedback. To support all learners, Teacher Evans provided sentence starters to help students highlight what their peers did well and offer thoughtful suggestions for improvement. What a powerful way to build confidence, independence, and community!
Shout-out to Ms. Clark!
Ms. Clark was also spotted incorporating WICOR through student-driven note-taking in science. Students took their own notes to answer the essential question. They recorded key vocabulary, wrote clear explanations, and added images to help solidify their understanding of each concept. We appreciate Ms. Clark’s consistent commitment to embedding writing into her science instruction!
👏 Thank you, Teacher Evans and Ms. Clark, for modeling strong AVID strategies and creating engaging, rigorous learning experiences for our students. Keep shining! 🌟
