Today marks two years for the County's Deflection program. Since the program began, 4D Recovery and The Peer Company, Washington County, Oregon's contracted peer-delivered services organizations, have made over 960 referrals to more than 30 partner organizations for services such as housing and substance use and mental health treatment. Approximately two-thirds of unhoused participants became housed while in the program, roughly 90% of uninsured participants became insured, and about 90% of participants who reported a need for language-specific services received them. Read more about the program's impact in our press release (link in comments). Pictured here are Behavioral Health staff along with peer support specialists. We have an update to share on this case.

Today, a judge sentenced the defendant to 450 months in prison, more than 37 years.

We again thank all those involved in this prosecution.

Isidro Martinez-Ramirez, age 51, has been found guilty of five counts of sexual abuse in the first degree and so**my in the first degree (Jessica’s Law). He will be sentenced later this month.

The defendant sexually abused a child multiple times over a period of several years. In 2021, the defendant was convicted of attempted so**my in the first degree in a separate case after he provided a minor with methamphetamine and sexually assaulted the teen.

We commend the victim in this case, and we would also like to acknowledge the work of the Forest Grove Police Department, the Oregon Department of Human Services, and CARES Northwest for their work.

On Christmas Eve, 2024, someone broke into the Rice Northwest Museum of Rocks & Minerals in Hillsboro. They used a sledgehammer to smash open a gold exhibit and stole nearly the entire collection.

Through excellent investigative work and tips from pawn shops where the burglar attempted to unload the stolen goods, detectives with the Washington County Sheriff's Office identified Vincent Charles Roberts II as the man responsible.

Last week, a jury found him guilty of burglary in the second degree, aggravated theft in the first degree, theft in the first degree, and criminal mischief in the first degree. He will be sentenced later this month.

We commend detectives for their work on this case.
