Imagine Hillsboro began in May 2015 as a grassroots, not-for-profit, organization that was created by a group of engaged citizens, with the assistance of the MAPPING the Future of Your Community program, part of the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs at Western Illinois University. Imagine Hillsboro strives to engage and mobilize volunteers to revitalize our city through community planning and e

conomic development. Imagine Hillsboro is made up of several committees: Parks and Recreation (with two subcommittees: Central Park and Bikes/Trails), Technology, Events and Festivals, Education, Volunteer, and the Bicentennial Committee, all working in tandem towards a common goal of creating a better future for Hillsboro and its citizens.

As Hillsboro prepares to celebrate America 250, we’re inviting residents, businesses, churches, neighborhoods, and organizations to join in the fun by decorating homes, storefronts, porches, windows, and yards in patriotic spirit!

Whether it’s classic flags and bunting, glowing lights, vintage Americana, hand-painted windows, or full-on stars-and-stripes creativity, every decoration helps turn Hillsboro into a community-wide celebration of pride, history, and hometown spirit. ❤️🤍💙

Participants who sign up will be included in our America 250 Decorating Tour Map so the community can explore and enjoy all of the festive displays throughout town!

✨ Have a business storefront you don’t plan to decorate, but would still love to see festive? We’re gathering local artists interested in painting patriotic window displays on downtown businesses, including vacant storefront windows, to help bring even more life and color to the celebration.
