The Office issued the Identity and Access Management Audit of the County’s public records application today! The computer application manages intake of public records requests, gathering and review of information, etc. Data stored in the application contains sensitive information.

Auditor Adams-Wannberg said, “Public access to information is a cornerstone of accountability - and so is protecting sensitive data. When systems allow more access than necessary, the risk isn’t theoretical. It increases the chance of misuse, exposure, or error. This audit found that those risks exist today and addressing them should be a priority.”

The report made 17 recommendations for improvement. Management agreed with most of the recommendations.

Black History Month is celebrated every February in the United States to honor the achievements and contributions of African Americans to the nation's history and culture. It serves as a time to reflect on the struggles and triumphs of Black individuals and communities throughout American history.

Today we remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's life of service and his great impact.

One of my favorite lines from his various speeches is, "The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice."

May we recommit to making a positive impact on our world!
