El 4 de agosto, Oregon reconoce oficialmente el Día del Programa Bracero, una fecha dedicada a honrar a los trabajadores mexicanos que transformaron el panorama agrícola del estado.
Se estima que más de 15,000 braceros llegaron a Oregon como parte del programa federal entre 1942 y 1964. Su incansable labor en los campos de frutas, verduras y lúpulo fue esencial para sostener la economía local durante tiempos de guerra y escasez de mano de obra.
Honramos y enaltecemos a quienes trabajan y han trabajado incansablemente en el campo, cuyo trabajo y sacrificio nos permiten alimentarnos.
