Hillsboro Area VFD EMS Update

MEDIC 6
We are proud to announce we have implemented a quick response vehicle for use, primarily with house call-type Emergency Medical Response. The name of the unit is MEDIC 6. This unit will only respond with certified/licensed Emergency Medical personnel on it. It will carry Basic, Advanced, and Paramedic skills and/or Medications.

MORE EMS PERSONNEL
Over the past two years, we have made a vast increase in EMS personnel within our department. We currently have the following Nationally Registered/State Licensed personnel: (2) Paramedic, (2) Advanced, (7) EMT, and (2) EMR. It’s our goal to continually improve our EMS services and provide the best care possible for our citizens.

COMMUNITY CARDIAC CARE (CCC) PROGRAM
Did you know if you go into cardiac arrest, brain damage is likely within 4 minutes. Without resuscitation efforts, brain damage and death is certain within 8-10. We have started providing CPR training for local churches, agencies, locations to expand emergency medical response to cardiac events; especially in the area of quick recognition of heart attack and early CPR/AED. If your Hillsboro Area Church or Group (or individual) is interested, feel free to reach out to us at 256-214-1099. The more people are willing to be that link in the chain of survival, the more chances we have to see successful resuscitation of the cardiac arrest patient.

Thank you all!

Jason Jones, MPA/BS
Fire Chief/NRP

It was a pleasure to come out to David Temple “Word of Faith” P.B. Church this morning and conduct CPR/AED training for members of their congregation. Cardiac Arrest and all emergency medical situations have more successful outcomes when people are willing and trained to react, making use of the time it takes for responders to get to their location. That is why we commend this group for being willing to learn how to potentially save a life!
