🌟 Meet Your Township Team! 🌟
This week, we're introducing Kelli Arthur Hykes, Chair of the Norwich Township Board of Trustees.
As Chair, Kelli works closely with residents and Township staff, responding to constituent concerns, researching opportunities for the Township, and helping guide decisions on expenditures, policies, and initiatives that protect and improve our community.
👋 Get to Know Kelli
📍 Where did you grow up?
"I was born outside of Pittsburgh, grew up in Arizona and Colorado, attended five high schools—including two in Alabama—and graduated from the University of Alabama. I moved a lot growing up. When I chose Ohio, specifically the greater Columbus and Hilliard area nearly 23 years ago, I knew it was where I wanted to live and raise my family. Now my mom and in-laws all live within five miles of me. So, in a sense, I grew up right here."
💬 What advice would you give someone interested in public service?
"Just do it! Serving our community is one of the most rewarding jobs I can think of. Everyone who feels called to serve should participate in public meetings, offer constructive feedback to elected officials, and, if the opportunity presents itself, apply for a public service position or run for office."
⭐ Three words that describe you:
Scrappy. Funny. Policy-minded.
🏊 What was your first job?
"My first job was as a lifeguard and swimming instructor. Growing up, my plan was to be a lifeguard, swim coach, and then the first woman President of the United States. Being the first woman Chair of the Norwich Township Board of Trustees is the only major deviation—so far."
🥤 Coffee, tea, or energy drink?
"Diet Coke. It is life."
🍴 Favorite comfort food?
Mozzarella sticks.
🎵 What song always puts you in a good mood?
"I Wanna Dance with Somebody" by Whitney Houston.
