2 significant incidents in 48 hours keeping Hill Fire Department crews busy…
Just before 5:00 AM on Tuesday April 28, 2026 Hill Fire Department crews were dispatched with Bristol Fire Department’s ambulance for a single vehicle motor vehicle accident on NH Rt 3-A just north of Hill Village. Crews arrived on scene to find a single vehicle that had gone well off the road, striking a tree and coming to rest on a stone wall.
The vehicle also brought down a second tree causing it to fall into the south bound travel lane, resulting in NH Rt 3-A being reduced to one lane of travel until the tree & vehicle could be removed.
The driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital by Bristol Fire Department. Hill Fire Department cleared the scene shortly before 6:30 AM
Shortly after 4:00 PM On Wednesday April 29, 2026 Hill Fire Department was dispatched for an outside fire in the area of 282 King Rd. Initial information was limited, Engine 2 responded, eventually locating the fire, approximately 1 acre in size, at the end of the class 6 portion of King Rd near the power lines.
Crews deployed hand lines into the heavy brush to make a quick initial stop of fire growth, while requesting a First Alarm Outside Fire assignment due to the size of the area burning and limited and difficult access.
Mutual Aid was received from Franklin, Bristol, New Hampton & Tilton-Northfield Fire Departments, as well as NH Division of Forest & Lands, while Andover Fire Department provided station coverage.
Crews completed extinguishment and overhaul and mop-up of hot spots, leaving the scene at approximately 6:30 PM.
Hill Fire Department staff returned to the station to clean and put equipment back in service, completing and leaving the station shortly after 8:00 PM.
Hill Fire Department also responded to a medical call on each of these days, separate from the more significant incidents.
