🚧 PUBLIC NOTICE – DAWES PARK & GREENWAY CLOSURES 🚧

The Hightstown Police Department would like to advise residents and visitors of upcoming closures related to construction in the area of Dawes Park and the Greenway.

August 17, 2026 – October 31, 2026

During this period:

Dawes Park and its parking area will be CLOSED for construction.
Additional sections of the Greenway between Summit Street and Stockton Street will be subject to intermittent closures as construction progresses.

ALL VEHICLES THAT PARK IN FRONT OF DAWES PARK, WHICH WILL BE POSTED "NO PARKING" WILL BE TICKETED AND TOWED. IF YOU USUALLY PARK IN THESE SPOTS, PLEASE FIND ANOTHER PARKING SPOT FOR THE DURATION OF CONSTRUCTION.

For everyone's safety, please obey all posted signs, barricades, and closure notices and avoid entering active construction areas.

We appreciate the community's patience and cooperation while these improvements are underway.

🚔 DRIVE SOBER OR GET PULLED OVER 🚔

The Hightstown Police Department will be participating in New Jersey’s Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over statewide mobilization from August 19 through September 7, 2026.

The campaign spans Labor Day Weekend and coincides with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s nationwide effort to reduce impaired-driving crashes and fatalities.

During the campaign, motorists can expect increased enforcement focused on identifying and removing impaired drivers from our roadways.

If you drink, don’t drive.
Plan ahead and designate a sober driver.
Use a rideshare service, taxi, or call someone you trust for a ride.
If you see a suspected impaired driver, report it to law enforcement.

There is never an excuse to drive impaired. Help us keep Hightstown and New Jersey’s roadways safe this Labor Day season.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

We know your car loves your keys… but they need some time apart.

Leaving your keys inside your unlocked car is basically sending thieves an invitation that says:
“Come on in! Please don’t scratch the seats.”

Do yourself (and us) a favor:
Lock your vehicle.
Take your keys and key fob with you.
Remove or hide valuables from plain sight.
Park in well-lit areas.

And remember, if you see someone checking door handles, acting suspiciously around parked vehicles, or anything that just doesn’t seem right…

Say something! We literally are always working to protect you! Call us! Report suspicious activity to the Hightstown Police Department immediately.

A few extra seconds can save you from a stolen vehicle—and save us from having to explain (in a report that your insurance will read) why your car went on an unauthorized road trip and all of your belonging are missing.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who came out and made National Night Out 2026 such an incredible success!

It was a fantastic evening filled with great conversations, family fun, and an opportunity for our officers and community to come together. Events like National Night Out remind us how fortunate we are to serve such a supportive and engaged community.
