Wagon 55 was dispatched to Steelton for the residential structure fire early this morning. The Wagon arrived to secure the secondary hydrant before stretching a line to the Charlie side. The crew remained on scene for approximately 2 hours before returning available. Thoughts & prayers go out to the families affected!

Our condolences go out to the Etzel family & friends on the loss of Tom. Our thoughts & prayers are with you all. 🙏

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tom Etzle. Tom passed away peacefully this morning at 5:45 a.m., holding his wife’s hand.

While we find comfort in knowing he is at peace, the loss of a husband, father, brother, and firefighter will leave a lasting mark on our department and our hearts.

Rest easy, Brother. We will take it from here.

We will stand beside your family, watch over them, and support them in the days and years ahead. We will continue to guide your son, Hunter as he follows in your footsteps, helping him become the dedicated, strong, and capable firefighter you were so proud to be.

Thank you for your service, your friendship, and the example you set for all of us.

Crews are currently on scene of a structure fire in the borough at the corner of Second & Grant. They have marked control but there is still hose is in the roadway along Second, SO PLEASE USE CAUTION & avoid the area of possible!

Do you recognize this pup? The Highspire Police Department found them near their Station on Eshelman Street around 7PM today (May 26, 2026). They appear unharmed and properly treated and may have accidentally escaped from a yard or vehicle. If you are the owner or know the owner please have them contact the Highspire Police Department via calling 717-558-6900 (Dauphin County Non-Emergency) and they will assist with getting you in touch with an officer.
