Our fifth grade students brought history to life last night during the Living Wax Museum at Highland Middle School!

Students researched and portrayed a wide variety of notable figures, including musicians, professional athletes, historical leaders, U.S. presidents, authors, astronauts, and inventors. Through their research, students learned about each individual’s accomplishments, contributions, and interesting facts.

With the simple tap of a hand, these “wax figures” came to life and shared what they had learned with museum visitors.

Our students did a fantastic job stepping into character and showcasing both their creativity and research skills. We are proud of the hard work they put into making history come alive!

WOW! Highland Middle School has talent!

A new event may have just become a new favorite! HMS students stepped outside of their comfort zones for the first-ever HMS Has Got Talent Show, and they absolutely delivered.

Students had the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of their peers during the school day, and several performers returned to the big stage last night to perform for the community.

From dancing and singing to guitar playing, karaoke, science demonstrations, and more, our students wowed the audience with their creativity, courage, and talent.

We are so proud of our students for accepting the challenge and putting on an incredible show. If this year’s event was any indication, HMS Has Got Talent is only going to get bigger and better.

Get ready, HMS! ❤️🤍🩶

Highland Middle School celebrated Mr. John McClure yesterday as he prepares to begin his well-deserved retirement!

Mr. McClure has been a valued member of the HMS family for the past nine years, teaching both 5th grade math and 8th grade social studies. Over the years, he has made a lasting impact on countless students, who have affectionately given him many nicknames and grown to appreciate his dedication, humor, and care.

During the celebration, Mr. McClure was showered with thoughtful notes and cards from both current and former students, all wishing him the very best in retirement.

Thank you, Mr. McClure, for your years of service to the Highland School District and for the positive difference you have made in the lives of so many students.

Fun and games before the big test! 🎉

HMS students wrapped up last week with an ATLAS pep rally—a fun way to celebrate all the learning and growth they’ve accomplished this year. Now it’s time to put that hard work into action!

With one day of testing complete, there are three more to go. Keep up the great work, HMS—we’re proud of you! Let’s finish strong, and we encourage everyone to be in attendance over the next few days. You’ve got this! 💪📚

Congratulations to these HMS students who were gifted a Kindle for earning the most AR points in their grade level this year!

📚 5th Grade – Noah Strauser
📚 6th Grade – Kaidence McKnight
📚 7th Grade – Luna Wing
📚 8th Grade – Madilyn Allard

We love seeing our students so invested in reading—because reading truly does turn into learning. Strong reading habits build vocabulary, strengthen comprehension, and open the door to endless opportunities both in and out of the classroom.

We are so proud of each of you for setting the example and showing that a love for reading leads to success. Keep turning those pages, Rebels! ❤️
