**Wildland Crew is home**. After 18 days the crew has returned home for some much needed RnR. The engine will be serviced and checked out to ensure fire readiness…..then it sounds like they will be name requested again BACK TO TEXAS! (If the fire weather continues). Thanks to our friends in Texas for the invite! We even offered a couple kids a ride to school. We noticed they were a little concerned for the Ross fire that was a crossed the street from their house. We walked over tho help calm them down, gave them some stickers and patches and offered a ride to school the day we demobilized from the incident. Such awesome kids and the family gave us snacks and shirts!

**Wildland Update**

Crew is still in Texas and assigned to the Ross fire outside of Mineral Wells. The Initial Attack day was long. 27 hours long and 112° for them. The fire is currently 89,000 acres and 31% contained. They were moved from the night shift to day shift. A couple more days and they will end their 14 days and travel home for some RnR.

**WILDLAND CREW UPDATE***. Your wildland crew has been name requested again to Mineral Wells Texas to assist out Texas Forest Service partners. They arrived on 8/19/26 and are on their third fire and this one is a biggie. The Ross fire has burned approximately 15,000 acres since it started around noon today. Extreme fire behavior and rapid growth in pinyon junipers and mesquite trees with light flashy fuels (grasses and light brush). Probably going to be a long night for them. **WILDLAND Update**
Your wildland crews have been busy. So busy it’s hard to get time to keep you all updated. The engine crew returned from the State Initial Attack Task Force assignment and promptly began staffing the wildland engine in district due to the significant heat. They were ordered up American Fork Canyon a few days ago on the Timp Fire. Then the ambulance was ordered to Tooele County for the Stookey Fire. In between those, we had an n individual assume Command of the Iron Fire to finalize his ICT-4 Task book. Now we have an individual headed out this morning to the Stookey Fire (yes the same as the ambulance) in a Task Force Leader trainee position.

Ambulance 204 (Wildland Ambulance) has been ordered to the Stookey Fire in Tooele County UT. Paramedic Sarah and EMT Faith are headed out. We wish them good luck and be safe, especially with the heat.

***Wildfire***

For public safety, Timpooneke Campground and Mutual Dell have been evacuated, and Tibble Fork Reservoir is closed. Timpooneke Road is closed at Alpine Loop Road.
The fire is currently estimated at approximately 5 acres and is still 0% contained. Firefighters are making an aggressive initial attack with multiple helicopters and numerous ground firefighting resources. Timp Fire is located above Tibble Fork in American Fork Canyon.
Firefighters are working to contain the fire as quickly and safely as possible. Please follow all closures and directions from law enforcement and fire personnel. Additional updates will be be provided as information becomes available.
The public is asked to not stop along the American Fork Canyon/Alpine Loop Road to watch the fire. Stopped vehicles create traffic hazards and can delay emergency response, making it more difficult for firefighters and emergency personnel to safely access the incident.

Your Highland Fire station today hosted UT-TF2 (Utah Task Force of engines and a tender) as well as the South Dakota Black Hat handcrew for a few hours. They have been brought together by DNR-FFSL for Initial Attack of any new fire starts. They did area familiarization for faster response in the areas and staged at the fire station.

Delay on the updates. Your wildland crew was ordered as part of a State Initial Attack Task Force and was sent to stage in Cedar City. It didn’t take long to be moved. They were moved to Tooele County and assigned to the Hastings Fire. The Task Force, UT-TF2 conducted a burnout of approximately 5,000 acres on June 21. Today, June 22, they are conducting a second burnout of approximately 10,000 acres. These critical burn operations are essential to removing fuels to slow/stop the fire progression and make a good “hard black line” around the fire. Our crew is working with engines from West Valley City, Ut County Fire, Unified Fire Authority, North Fork Fire District, Woodland Hills Fire Department and have a support tender from Santaquin Fire Department. Also supported by DNR-FFSL and Federal fire partners.

This weekend, 9 of your wildland firefighters attended the Northern Utah Wildland Engine Training (NUWET) in Hyrum. We had a Type 3 engine, a Type 6 engine and the wildland ambulance attend. This 3 day training helps to “dust off the cobwebs” prior to the season REALLY kicking off. Training on maps, radios, navigation, helicopter operations etc. This training is paid for by the State of Utah, DNR. On the second day, there is a hose lay competition. All engines are split into 2 divisions, Alpha and Zulu. The Lone Peak engines finished 1st and 2nd in Division Alpha with Engine 3201 moving into the championship race against Weber Fire District. It consisted of a fire engine with no water and having to draft from the river then do a 375’ hose lay, climb up the slide, down the slide then spray water. All this to simulate protecting structures/homes In the end, LONE PEAK BROUGHT HOME THE WIN! Great job to bring home the trophy! More pics in the comments.

Incident Update – 5/3/26 | B Shift

At 22:02, units were dispatched to a reported garage fire in Alpine. Callers reported black smoke pushing from the garage, with all occupants confirmed out.

Crews arrived to a working fire and immediately stretched lines for fire attack. Access was made through a man door, with additional access gained by cutting the garage door to improve entry and ventilation.

The second-arriving unit conducted a primary search of the structure, confirming all occupants were out and no extension into the residence.

Quick, aggressive action led to a rapid knockdown, stopping the fire before it could extend into the home.

Strong work across the board. We appreciate the support from our neighboring departments and the fast, coordinated response from all crews on scene.
