Rod Mann: Utah County Auditor

Rod Mann: Utah County Auditor One of my primary objectives is to help improve communication with residents & encourage involvement I would love to hear from you.

My wife, Suzanne, and I have been married for over 40 years, have 4 children and 12 grandchildren. Since moving to Highland 19 years ago we’ve been actively involved in the community. During my 35-year career I worked at both large corporations (GE, HCL and Motorola) and technology start-ups. I've managed software consulting groups, directed world-wide marketing for a public technology company, ov

erseen partners and alliances for a $600M division of a global IT services firm … . Over the years I've frequently been tasked with fixing troubled projects and programs and have always been able to make a positive difference. As a member of Highland City’s Council and as Mayor I was also able to resolve difficult problems. A hallmark of my public service has been improving the public’s access to information, organizing data to help make better public policy decisions, and reducing contention. As your County Auditor I will:

1) Work to ensure that all county agencies and the commission have the financial information they need to make good decisions and improve performance.

2) Provide residents improved access to budget and audit information.

3) Reduce contention between between county offices. We need to improve the level of trust between the public and the government that serves them. Accurate and accessible information helps to just that and helps everyone make better decisions. Utah County is a great place, I see a wonderful future for our community. I believe the glass is always half-full and that win/win solutions can be found if we work together. Feel free to use the contact information provided to reach me privately or post a question on the site.

We just posted an informative version of the Utah County 2025 Budget called the Budget Book. It includes the approved budget as well as additional information for each department, such as mission statement, major accomplishments in 2024, org charts, staffing details, etc.

The best way to use it is to go to the table of contents and click on the items or departments that interest you. It is nearly 400 pages long, so most people will not read it straight through.

Let me know if you have any suggestions for improving the document. I will send a gift card for a Roxberry Smoothie to the first person who reads it cover to cover. Once you finish, send an email to [email protected] stating which section was your favorite and which section(s) could be improved.

Thanks to Rudy Livingston, my chief deputy, who spent hours putting the Budget Book together.

Sometimes we can be a bit hard on ourselves in Utah. Here's an article that highlights the many things that are going right.

It’s more than economic strength, charitable giving, religiosity and limited alcohol consumption. On a surprising number of other variables, this mountain state stands out in its overall well-being, productivity and quality of life.

We won (55.8% to 44.2%)! While there are still some votes to be counted there are not enough left to change the outcome. One of the joys of any campaign is making new friends and I was blessed with a lot of them.

I first want to thank those who supported me during the convention and primary. There are too many to name individually but I truly appreciate everything you did. I would however like to highlight my wife and companion for over 40 years, Suzanne. She made this possible and I love her more than ever.

Thanks to the precinct officers and delegates who went the extra mile. I was very impressed by your efforts to inform voters. You held cottage meetings, meet the candidate events, and precinct events for voters where you shared what you learned. You are amazing!

Thanks to everyone who ran. Campaigns are hard and in the end, someone must win and others lose in terms of the votes counted. However, regardless of the final vote, you are all winners! You've made new friends, learned a lot, and gained the respect and admiration of many -- you can count me among them. You've also brought issues to the forefront, shared different perspectives on those, and provided opportunities for hundreds, if not thousands, of individuals to engage in service by helping on your campaign.

Thanks as well to those who asked tough questions and/or supported my opponent. I believe the convention and primary processes bring out the best in candidates. It forces us to think, look at issues from multiple perspectives, and do additional research. I'm certainly better prepared to be your County Auditor than when I started.

I am excited to serve you in this new capacity starting in January. Please feel free to contact me anytime with questions, suggestions, or to bring an issue to my attention.
