Public Service Announcement

Lake County, Indiana will not be participating in the statewide test of the severe weather and tornado warning sirens on March 10th, 2026, due to the potential for actual severe weather tomorrow.

Any audible siren warnings that occur tomorrow should be interpreted as real emergency warnings and not part of a test.

Residents are reminded that outdoor warning sirens are designed to alert people who are outdoors of severe weather conditions.

While the sirens may be heard inside buildings, they are not intended to serve as the primary warning method for people indoors.

All residents should have multiple ways to receive severe weather watches and warnings, such as:

NOAA Weather Radios

Wireless Emergency Alerts on mobile phones

Local television or radio broadcasts

Weather apps and notification systems

If you have any questions regarding Highland’s Outdoor Warning System, please contact the Highland Fire Department.

Stay safe and be prepared.
