Highland Remembers - 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony

Friday, September 11, 2026. Our ceremony begins at 06:30 PM.

Join Us for SALUTE2VETS on the Walkway Over the Hudson - Hudson Valley Veterans Appreciation Night, an evening of remembrance, gratitude, appreciation, and community on Friday, September 18 from 6-8 p.m.

This special evening event honors those who have served our nation with resource tables, entertainment, and a moving sunset salute.

On the East (Poughkeepsie) side, Dutchess County Veteran Services and MHA Dutchess Vet2Vet will host informational booths for veterans, alongside food trucks, music, and complimentary meals for veterans and their families. — featuring the 42nd Infantry Division Band, a live United States Air Force enlistment ceremony. Over on the West (Highland) side, Ulster County Veteran Services and HVNCVR Vet2Vet will offer the same warm welcome and services.

The New York State Department of Veterans’ Services will be onsite for this patriotic event.

At 7:00 p.m. we unite as all guests are invited to the Center Overlook on the middle of the Walkway over the Hudson. Veterans and supporters from both sides of the Hudson will meet at the American flag for a heartfelt ceremony honoring our heroes, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display over the river.
This event is free and open to all.

This event is also sponsored by The Hudson Valley National Center for Veteran Reintegration, Mental Health America of Dutchess County, NY, O’Connor & Partners, PLLC, and Smiles of the Hudson Valley Dentistry.

Events like this are a wonderful opportunity to honor Veterans while connecting them and their families with resources and support close to home.

Come join the community of Senior Citizens for this social program.
If you need a ride or assistance, please call 845-522-3914

Highland's seniors gather for a fun exchange at the library.

At this two-hour monthly program, different guest speakers present information on a range of aging topics.

Light refreshments are always available, and most gatherings include a fun group game, craft or wellness activity.

This monthly event is the best place in town to meet new friends, socialize, and stay connected to future Town of Lloyd senior events and information.

*On occasion it is not the first Friday. Pay close attention to the town calendar to double check.

FREE Fall Shred Event, Saturday, November 7, 2026, 09:00 AM - 12:00 PM, Town Hall Parking Lot (Behind 12 Church Street, Highland, NY 12528)

Acceptable Items for our Community Shred Event are as follows:

Paper
File Folders
Checkbooks
Staples and Paper Clips
Small Quantities of Plastics (ID Cards and Credit Cards)
Unacceptable Items for Community Shred Event are the following

No Hard Drives
No CDs/DVDs
No X-Rays
No Batteries
No Electronics
No Hazardous Materials
No Syringes/Needles
No Heavy Objects such as Nuts, Bolts, Metal Plates


In accordance with the spirit of providing this service to every in our community, please limit items for shredding to 3 standard paper storage boxes or garbage bags.
