Sustainability Sunday: Pollinator Awareness Week 🦋
In honor of Pollinator Awareness Week (June 22-28), this week, we're highlighting the importance of pollinators! Pollination is an essential ecological process that allows plants to reproduce. Animals such as hummingbirds, bats, bees, beetles, butterflies, and flies are necessary to pollinate our plants and crops. According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, these animals help pollinate over 75% of our flowering plants and crops.
The major threats facing pollinators are habitat loss and pesticide use, but through restoring native plant species and planting a pollinator garden, you can help! We need pollinators to enjoy the fruits, vegetables, nuts, and coffee that we love.
