Moody’s upgraded Illinois’ credit rating to its highest level since 2011, citing stronger finances and budgeting.

Illinois is making it easier for communities to access comfort and support when they need it most.

The Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board has launched a dedicated 24/7 line for the state-certified Crisis Response Therapy Canine Program—the only state-certified public safety therapy canine program in the nation.

Some of the circumstances where therapy canine units can provide essential comfort and support include:
* School support following traumatic events
* Community healing events
* Public safety outreach and engagement
* Wellness events for first responders, students and community members
* Other community events where therapy canine support may provide comfort and connection

These specially trained teams can support schools, first responders, families and communities following traumatic events, as well as provide wellness and community outreach. I’m proud to see Illinois continuing to invest in innovative approaches to public safety and healing.

This service is currently available only to residents of Cook County.

Volunteers will be writing postcards to swing states in Highland Park (474 Central Ave., Lower Level) this Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. Stop in to write or to pick up postcards to write at home. Read below for more details.

Want to help stamp out MAGA extremism? Chip in at tenthdems.org/stamps to help us buy postcard stamps! It costs money to mail the postcards our Tenth Dems volunteers are sending to reach voters in critical swing states, including our neighbor to the north, Wisconsin. Help pay for a roll of 100, 200, or 300 postcard stamps, or even just a sheet.

We'll also be getting together to write the postcards. It's OK if you've never done this before -- postcards, addresses, and the messages to write will be provided. You can also stop by and pick up postcards to write from home. Details about the postcard writing parties:

Thank you so much to everyone — volunteers, supporters, and all the candidates and elected officials who stopped by — who helped make our Moraine Dems Annual “Party with Our Party” such a fun afternoon.

As the candidates and elected officials who spoke made clear, our Democratic values are on the ballot in our area, and we can even help elect Democrats beyond our township. There’s too much at stake this year to take it easy.

And we’ve done a lot so far. Let’s keep going!

The City of Highland Park is reviewing our sidewalks, shared-use paths, accessible parking spaces, intersections, and other City-owned pedestrian facilities to develop an Accessible Streets and Sidewalks Plan to make our community more accessible to all, regardless of ability. Participate in this process by completing the public survey: surveymonkey.com/r/HP_ROWADA

The purpose of this survey is to gather community input on accessibility barriers along sidewalks, shared-use paths, intersections, and public parking in the City of Highland Park. This survey contains 18 questions and will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Once complete, you will be redirected to an interactive map where you can pin priority locations for accessibility improvements. The survey will be open through August 30, 2026.

Thank you, Congressman Brad Schneider, for continuing to fight for gun violence prevention in Congress.

Too many families have been torn apart by gun violence, and I will not accept any effort to weaken the tools that help keep our communities safe. We must remain committed to preventing violence in all forms, which is why I – as a member of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force – am urging the ATF to reverse Trump proposals that undermine gun safety. No family should live with the fear of losing a loved one to gun violence.
