National Library Week, April 19–25, 2026, celebrates the many ways libraries bring people together, spark imagination, and support lifelong learning. From books and digital tools to job resources and creative programs, libraries are essential to strong, thriving communities.

This year’s theme, "Find Your Joy," highlights the many ways patrons can discover inspiration at the Highland Park Library. Whether exploring new career skills, laying the groundwork for a business, nurturing a young family, or embracing retirement, the Library offers resources and programs to fuel curiosity and support every stage of life. No matter the journey, the Library strives to help patrons find joy in learning, creating, and exploring new ideas.

Celebrate the first 3 years of life!

This event will feature music, movement, sensory play, and a short story time. Visit booths from community partners for crafts and resources for childhood development. Open to families with children ages 0-3.

Join the Highland Park Library and the University Park Public Library in making sustainably powered vehicles. Build, decorate, and test out the ultimate miniature race car and challenge your friends to see who has the speediest set of wheels.

Each car has a solar panel that will power it and turn this toy into a true work of engineering.

This program is presented in partnership with the University Park Public Library. Recommended for ages 10 and up. Registration required.

The Highland Park Library adult Winter Reading Challenge is br-r-ringing the fun! Read or listen to three books and record their titles, as well as attend three library programs (in-person or virtually).

Complete the challenge to enter our drawing for one of three grand prizes, including tea for two at the Adolphus French Room. The drawing will be held after the challenge ends on March 17, 2025.
