Yesterday morning we had the honor of visiting K-4 classes at Highland Home School for a fun and interactive show & tell! The students were full of great questions and excitement as they got an up-close look at our gear, trucks, and learned about fire safety. Moments like these are a great reminder of how important it is to connect with our community—especially our youngest future heroes! A big thank you to the teachers and students for inviting us out and making us feel so welcome. We had a blast and hope to see some of you wearing turnout gear one day!

Last night our firefighters took part in live fire training with the Alabama Fire College, putting their skills to the test in real-world conditions. Training in a controlled live fire environment allows our crew to practice fire attack and search and rescue, and teamwork under realistic heat and smoke conditions—so when the call comes in, we’re ready. We’re proud of the hard work and dedication our firefighters continue to show to better protect our community every day. A big thank you to the Alabama Fire College instructors for providing top-notch training and support!

This week we proudly recognize the voices behind the scenes—the calm, steady professionals who answer the call when it matters most. In honor of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, we want to extend our deepest thanks to our 911 dispatchers. You are the first first responders—providing lifesaving instructions, gathering critical information, and keeping both our crews and our community safe.
Your ability to stay composed under pressure, guide callers through emergencies, and coordinate responders with precision does not go unnoticed. Every call you take makes a difference.

From all of us on the front lines: thank you for your dedication, your professionalism, and your unwavering commitment to serving others. We couldn’t do this job without you.

This afternoon just before 12:30, our department was dispatched to a grass fire on Montgomery Hwy near the Montgomery/Crenshaw county line. Our units along with South Montgomery County VFD arrived on scene and deployed hand lines and contained the fire within minutes of arrival. It was a great team effort by both agencies involved!
