Despite the fog and light rain, our 31st Annual Memorial Day Observance Ceremony took place on Monday, May 25th, at the Veterans Peace Memorial, where a full crowd gathered to remember and honor the fallen. Mayor Brunello led the ceremony, which featured talented musicians from “Voices for Freedom,” guest speakers Michael Granito and Michael DeJohn, and a flyover by a U.S. Air Force Reserve 910th Airlift Wing C-130 Hercules aircraft. The wreath ceremony was held in remembrance of longtime resident, Chick Dolciato.

The City of Highland Heights wishes to thank all of our Memorial Day Observance Ceremony committee members, Roll of Honor donors, Highland Heights BSA Troop 461, both boys and girls, as well as our piper, trumpeters, flag bearers, and all musicians. We also extend our gratitude to Rev. John Thomas J. Lane, SSS, for being part of our ceremony for many years. Father Lane is concluding his final week after 17 years as pastor of his home parish, Saint Paschal Baylon. We wish him a smooth transition in his new assignment, where he will begin serving as pastor in New York City later this summer.
