This past weekend, four Highland Beach Firefighters attended the Ft. Lauderdale Fire Conference for two days of hands-on live fire training.

Day 1: Our firefighters worked on laddering a structure, search and rescue, and VEIS (Vent, Enter, Isolate, Search.)

Day 2 focused on Engine Company Operations, where our crews worked alongside instructors from FDNY, Orlando Fire Department, and Ft. Lauderdale Fire Rescue. Training included deploying 1.75” and 2.5” hoselines, advancing lines under live fire conditions, and sharpening tactics that directly translate to safer and more effective fireground operations.

We’re proud of our firefighters for continuing to grow their skills and bring back valuable knowledge to serve the Highland Beach community. 💪🔥

Please be advised that there are strong rip current conditions active. Rip currents are powerful and can pull even strong swimmers away from the shore. HBFR urges beachgoers to use caution and always swim near a lifeguard at public beaches.

This Women’s History Month, we honor the strength, courage, and dedication of the women who have broken barriers and paved the way—especially those in fire and emergency services. These women show up every day with purpose and pride, proving that leadership, grit, and compassion have no limits.

To every woman who has stepped up to serve and inspire—on the front lines and behind the scenes—we see you, we appreciate you, and we stand with you.

Here’s to the past, present, and future of women in the fire service. Your work matters, your presence matters, and your impact is lasting.
