HIGH POINT, N.C. (June 16, 2026) โ A man facing s*x offense charges set an apartment on fire this morning as members of the U.S. Marshals Service Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force (CRFTF) attempted to serve the warrants. The man died in the fire. No law enforcement officers or other community members were hurt.
Marshals located the suspect, Timothy E. Parker (B/M, 58 of High Point), at an apartment in the 3000 block of Sherrill Avenue. He was wanted for two counts of statutory s*x offense with a child younger than 15 and one count of indecent liberties with a child.
Parker came to the door and saw law enforcement officers in the parking lot. The marshals began giving commands for him to come out of the home, but Parker ignored them and moved away from the door. A short time later, marshals saw flames and smoke inside the unit and immediately called the High Point Fire Department (HPFD).
Parker was found dead in the apartment. No one else was inside the unit at the time of the fire.
At this time, it is believed Parker intentionally set the fire. Detectives with HPPDโs Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) are investigating his death as a su***de. HPFDโs Fire Marshalโs Office is investigating the fire.
People living in nearby units were evacuated. Damage is confined to Parkerโs apartment.
This is an ongoing investigation. Additional information will be released when appropriate.
The charges against Parker stem from a s*xual assault case that was reported in May. It was investigated by detectives with HPPDโs Special Victims Unit (SVU).
