Calling All Young Artists!

The High Bridge Fire Department is excited to announce our Fire Prevention Poster Contest at the Grounds for Art Festival on Saturday, September 12th!

Kids ages 18 and under are invited to get creative and design their very own fire prevention-themed poster. Posters can focus on any aspect of fire prevention or fire safety, so break out the crayons, markers, colored pencils, or paint and show us what you’ve got!

Completed posters can be dropped off at the High Bridge Fire Department tent during the Grounds for Art Festival. At the conclusion of the event, our members will vote on their favorite submission and select a winner.

And of course, we need a good prize…

The winner will receive a pizza dinner delivered by members of the High Bridge Fire Department on Monday, September 14th!

We’re looking forward to seeing some great artwork while helping spread an important message about fire prevention and safety.

On Tuesday evening, Chief Ritz attended the Hunterdon County Board of Commissioners meeting to accept an $11,000 grant award on behalf of the High Bridge Fire Department.

These grant funds will be used to purchase new fire hose and other essential equipment that will help support our members and enhance our ability to better serve the community.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Hunterdon County Board of Commissioners and Public Safety Director Brayden Fahey for providing this grant opportunity. We would also like to thank Mayor Lee and the High Bridge Borough Council for their continued support of the Fire Department and our grant submission.

We are grateful for the continued support and investment in our department as we work to provide the highest level of service possible to the residents of High Bridge and the surrounding communities.

Last night, members of the High Bridge Fire Department participated in a vehicle extrication drill focused on strengthening the skills needed to safely and efficiently remove victims trapped following a motor vehicle crash.

For the first evolution, members simulated a vehicle rollover with entrapment, working together to stabilize the vehicle and successfully remove a trapped victim. Following the completion of the scenario, the vehicle was uprighted, allowing members to practice additional extrication techniques, including a complete roof removal and dash lift.

Vehicle extrication incidents can present complex and rapidly changing challenges. Regular hands-on training allows our members to practice proper stabilization, tool operation, patient access, and rescue techniques in a controlled environment so we are better prepared when these skills are needed during a real emergency.

We would also like to extend a huge thank you to the Dispenza family for generously donating their vehicle to the Fire Department for this training. Opportunities like this provide our members with invaluable hands on experience that simply cannot be replicated in the classroom.

In addition to donating the vehicle, the Dispenza family captured some great photos and video throughout the evening and put together this awesome slideshow highlighting the training.

Thank you again to the Dispenza family for supporting the training and continued preparedness of the High Bridge Fire Department!

Train today. Prepare for tomorrow.

Last night, just before 11:00 p.m., the High Bridge Fire Department was alerted on firebox 14-01 for a reported structure fire with possible extension to a nearby residence and a vehicle.

Chief 14 arrived on scene and established command, confirming a fully involved detached garage fire with involvement to one vehicle.

First arriving crews initiated fire attack operations on the detached garage, while additional crews secured a water supply to a nearby hydrant and also protected the nearby residence and checked the residence for any extension.

Crews operated on scene for approximately one hour before clearing the incident just after midnight.

We would like to thank all of our mutual aid partners for their assistance and support.
