🚒❤️‍🔥 THE PERSON BEHIND THE GEAR ❤️‍🔥🚒

When you see a fire truck flying down the road, it's easy to see the lights, the sirens, and the turnout gear.

But behind that gear is someone's mom, dad, husband, wife, son, daughter, brother, sister, friend, or neighbor.

They're regular people with jobs, families, responsibilities, and lives of their own. But when that pager goes off, they put all of that aside and answer the call.

They don't know what they're walking into.
They don't know how long they'll be gone.
They don't know what the outcome will be.

They just know someone needs help.

They don't do it for recognition.
They don't do it for a paycheck.
They do it because they care about their community and because when someone needs help, they answer.

This is what service looks like.
This is what sacrifice looks like.
This is what being a firefighter looks like.

So this September, during Firefighter Appreciation Month, take a moment to remember the person behind the gear.

Give them a thank you.
Support your local fire department.
And if you see a firefighter today, let them know you appreciate what they do. 🚒❤️

🚒❤️‍🔥 SEPTEMBER IS FIREFIGHTER APPRECIATION MONTH! ❤️‍🔥🚒

This month, we want to take a moment to recognize and appreciate the men and women who answer the call when someone needs help. Being a firefighter isn't just about putting on a helmet and getting on a truck. It means leaving your family, your job, your dinner, your bed, or whatever you may be doing at a moment's notice never knowing exactly what you're walking into.
It means running toward the emergency when everyone else is trying to get away. It means putting others before yourself. It means countless hours of training, late-night calls, long days, sleepless nights, and sometimes seeing things that stay with you long after the call is over. And there are so many calls that the public never sees the ones that happen in the middle of the night, the difficult calls, the calls that require firefighters to carry things home with them long after they leave the scene.

To every volunteer and career firefighter out there THANK YOU. ❤️

Thank you for answering the tones.
Thank you for standing beside your brothers and sisters.
Thank you for protecting your communities.
Thank you for showing up when you're tired, exhausted, or having a bad day.
Thank you for the sacrifices that most people never see.

And to the families behind our firefighters thank you. ❤️

Thank you for understanding the interrupted dinners, missed holidays, late-night pages, long training nights, and the moments when your firefighter has to walk out the door because someone else needs them.

For our Higgston Volunteer Fire Department family, we are proud of every firefighter who has worn our department's name and served this community. Your dedication, courage, and willingness to help others does not go unnoticed. 🚒❤️‍🔥

And to our community support your local fire department. Volunteer if you can. Donate when you're able. Bring your firefighters a meal. Check on them. Most importantly, let them know that what they do matters.

Today is Volunteer Firefighter Recognition Day, and we want to take a moment to recognize and sincerely thank our incredible volunteer firefighters for the time, courage, and dedication they give to our community.

You answer the call when others need help, often leaving your families, jobs, and everyday lives behind to serve and protect your neighbors. Your bravery, sacrifice, and selflessness do not go unnoticed.

Thank you for every call you answer, every hour you volunteer, and every time you stand ready to help when our community needs you most. We are truly grateful for each and every one of you!
