Notice of Public Accuracy Test
To the qualified electors of the Township of Lyon, Roscommon County, State of Michigan: Notice is hereby given that a Public Accuracy Test for the electronic equipment that will be used in precinct 1 for the November 3, 2026 Election is scheduled for October 19 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at the Lyon Township Hall located at 7851 W. Higgins Lake Dr. Roscommon, Michigan 48653.
The Public Accuracy Test is conducted to demonstrate that the computer programming used to tabulate the votes cast at the election meets the requirements of Michigan election law.

Compost is open Sundays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays through November 29 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Metal and electronic scrap is also accepted during compost hours. Items that can be recycled include applicances, anything that's 80% metal, computer towers, cell phones and batteries, laptops and batteries, and anything with electrical components.

Any resident of Lyon Township who is a qualified elector of Roscommon County and who is not already registered to vote may do so at the office of the Township Clerk, The Office of the County Clerk, a Secretary of State branch office, or other designated state agency. Registration forms can be obtained at www.mi.gov/vote and mailed to the Township Clerk. Voters who are already registered may update their registration at www.expressSOS.com.
The last day to register in any manner other than in-person with the Township clerk is Monday, October 19, 2026, for the November 3, 2026 election.
After that date, anyone who qualifies as an elector may register to vote in person with proof of residency at the Township office Monday - Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and Fridays by appointment.

Thank you to the teams, sponsors, and supporters of the 2026 "Cancer Sucks" softball tournament fundraiser last weekend! Townships and residents working together for a good cause led to a good turnout at both Roscommon and Lyon Townships' ball fields.
Still going strong into its 13th year, the tournament has raised over $55,000 for Roscommon County young cancer victims and their families.
Look for another tournament next year, and support the cancer fight whenever and wherever you can!

Good news for Lyon Township. . .Remember the ice storm? Due to the hard work of the fire department (warming station and road clearing), the maintenance crew (debris hauling and receiving at the compost site), and our spot-on office staff (diligently tracking and submitting our costs), ALL the $15,471 we spent dealing with the storm's aftermath WILL be reimbursed by the Governor's office.

Right people/right places. . . nice job, folks!

PUBLIC NOTICE
To All Qualified Electors in Lyon and Markey Townships:
Notice is hereby given by the Boards of the signed Agreement for Joint Election Services under authority granted in Public Act 81 of 2023 that the location of the early voting site for all Federal and Statewide elections of 2026 will be at the following:
Markey Township Hall
7400 E. Houghton Lake Drive
Houghton Lake, MI 48629
All qualifed electors in Lyon and Markey Townships have the right to mark a ballot and deposit the ballot in a tabulator beginning the second Saturday before an election and ending the Sunday before the election. For these townships, early voting for the General Election will be available at the Markey Township Hall on the following days and hours:
Saturday, October 24 - Sunday, November 1, 2026 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Early Voting is NOT open on Monday, November 2, 2026.

Lyon Township is applying for a grant to construct a 6-foot-wide asphalt walking trail at Park 27. It will be a safe, easy-on and -off, wheelchair and walker ADA-compliant place to exercise, enjoy the outdoors, and gather with others. The trail is planned to be less than a mile long and will go in a semi-circular shape from the playground area, around the dog park, and back to the parking lot.

To improve the Township's chances of receiving the grant, we need email messages or letters from residents that state how they and family members would enjoy and benefit from the proposed trail.

Please support this project with a quick email or letter explaining how the trail will serve you, your family, and other residents' families as an ADA-inclusive addition to Lyon Township Park 27!
