Hicksville Fire Department Heavy Rescue Comp 8 Volunteer for your community and be a part of the Heavy Rescue Company 8 unit. We are located on E. Marie Street at Station One. HICKSVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT.

On February 2, 1961, the 1st Meeting of the Deputies was called to order at 8:30 P.M.. The purpose of the meeting organized the Deputies into a group of men to maintain a new floodlight truck to be delivered to the Hicksville Fire District in the middle of February 1961. The first floodlight truck was operated by Company #8. The truck was built by Mack Truck Company and made operative in March of

1961. Originally, this truck was operated by a squad of deputies comprising of three men assigned from each company in the department. As of September 29, 1966 the Department Squad was disbanded and a new company formed with charter members. In April 1967, Counsel attended our meeting to advise us on our incorporated as a formal company of the Hicksville Fire Department. A motion was made to One: Incorporate Company #8 under the name of FLOODLIGHT COMPANY # EIGHT INC. March 26, 1973 a motion was made from the Budget committee saying that Company # 8 is a full company and should receive its equal share of all benefits as the rest of the seven companies in the department. On March 6, 1983, Co. #8 voted to change its company name to "Floodlight / Heavy Rescue Co. #8. In August of 1984 the new Floodlight Heavy Rescue Truck was delivered to the District. The truck was a 1981 Sutphen. In 1993 the new Floodlight Heavy Rescue Truck was delivered. The truck was a 1993 Sutphen.
