Over the weekend the time capsule sealed back in 1976 was opened. It was awesome seeing some of the excitement on everyone’s faces as items from 50 years ago were revealed. Thank you to all who attended and to those who donated items for the next opening in 2076 😂

See below for information regarding the Water Dam Road bridge closure that began today.

Road Closure Announcement:

Please see the below partial release from Penndot regarding the Road closure of Water Dam Road. Please obey all posted signs and abide by the approved detours.

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing the closure of a portion of Route 4015 (Waterdam Road) between Ridge Road and Walnut Road in Mount Pleasant Township, Washington County, beginning Monday, July 6.



A posted detour will be in place until mid-September using Waterdam Road, Cherry Valley Road, Fort Cherry Road, and Main Street/Millers Run Road.

Today was our Easter Egg Hunt and the kids seemed to have a blast! Special thanks to township members who helped volunteer, Heritage Public Library-McDonald, PA for helping and doing a raffle, other individuals/businesses who donated, and Mount Pleasant Township VFC - Hickory, Washington County, PA for bringing in the Easter Bunny! Hope everyone had fun!

It’s a great day for an Easter Egg Hunt! One change from yesterday’s post- the prizes will be in front of the township building instead of the concession stand area. Egg return will also be in that area.

In the concession stand there’s cookies, chips, coffee, tea, and water to enjoy.

Tomorrow (March 28th) is the annual Easter Egg Hunt. We want to remind all attendees to dress warmly and wear appropriate shoes as the ground may still be wet, soft, or muddy in some areas from the storms that have come through the area this week.

The hunt begins at 10:00am with the oldest age group beginning first and we will work our way down in the age groups.

10-12 year olds: on the hill next to the building
7-9 year olds: on the ball field (look for signs for exact location)
4-6 year olds: on the ball field (look for signs for exact location)
0-3 year olds: on the tennis court

Any child winning a prize will be picking it up at the concession stand this year.

Today may be St. Patrick’s Day, but the luck of the Irish will at the Mount Pleasant Township VFC - Hickory, Washington County, PA fire hall for their bingo event. If you are looking for something to do tomorrow (3/18/2026) stop out and play some bingo while supporting the fire department! Doors open at 5:00 pm with games beginning at 6:30 pm

Last night we were able to raise $6,764 at our Bingo Fundraiser! Thank you to everyone who attended and donated! And also thank you to everyone who donated a basket or assisted in other ways!
