North Carolina—this is one of those moments where silence literally becomes toxic.

The Environmental Management Commission (EMC) is considering rules on PFAS and 1,4-dioxane… but instead of protecting our communities, these proposals would let hundreds of polluters keep dumping harmful chemicals into our rivers and drinking water.

We’re talking about:
⚠️ “Forever chemicals” linked to cancer, hormone disruption, and immune damage
⚠️ A carcinogen (1,4-dioxane) that can’t even be removed by standard water treatment
⚠️ Millions of North Carolinians exposed—right now

And what do the rules do?
They ask polluters to… write a plan. No real limits. No real consequences.

That’s not protection. That’s permission.

🗣️ The EMC is holding public hearings across the state, and this is your chance to demand better:

You don’t need to be an expert. You just need to show up and say: our water should not be a sacrifice zone.

Catawba Valley Pride has announced this year's Trans Pride will be Saturday, April 11 at Unifour Church. The theme is Existence is Resistance! They are now accepting vendor and volunteer applications.

We are proud to officially announce Catawba Valley Trans Pride 2026!

Join us on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM at Unifour Church, 2257 Old Conover-Startown Road, Newton, NC for a powerful afternoon of visibility, celebration, and community.

This year’s theme is bold, unapologetic, and deeply needed:

Existence is Resistance!

In a time when simply living authentically can feel like an act of courage, we are coming together to celebrate the strength, resilience, and beauty of our transgender community. Trans Pride is a space of joy. A space of safety. A space where being fully yourself is not only welcomed — it is honored.

This is a FREE to attend event, with free parking, and it is pet friendly. We will feature vendors, entertainment, food trucks, and community services — all centered around uplifting trans lives and strengthening our local LGBTQIA+ community.
