WRC is closed today for Labor Day... A day honoring the workers whose hands built this country.

We 𝒂𝒍𝒔𝒐 honor the labor that isn’t always seen. Women perform 76% of all unpaid care work, and they carry the majority of the mental load: the planning, remembering, organizing, and emotional labor that keeps families and communities moving.

This invisible labor is 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍 labor.

WRC will reopen Tuesday, September 8.

Bridget here. Coming to you from my kitchen this morning as I'm framing some art for the Center with a little pre Art in the Park 2026 story... (1 week away, btw!)

Some mornings at WRC, I catch myself pausing in front of Jan Taylor’s artwork. There's a small piece she painted of bottles that I claimed when I first started at WRC... It holds this quiet magic of an everyday moment. Her pieces are scattered throughout the Center, but most of them have somehow migrated to live in my office... that's a mystery for another day...

Jan painted the world with curiosity and tenderness. Ted championed her creativity with equal devotion. Their legacy is the heartbeat behind our Jan & Ted Taylor Juried Competition, a part of AITP for artists who, like Jan, use their gifts to bring connection, color, and magic into the world.

It's past the deadline and I'm going rogue here, but if you’re an artist (or know one), we’d still love to see your work this year.

Let’s fill the Competition with the beauty it deserves.
