We are excited to announce the promotion of April Shuler to Director of Homeowner and Family Services at Habitat Catawba Valley!
Over the past two years, April has played a vital role in guiding Habitat families through the homeownership journey as QLO/Mortgage Specialist. In her new role as Director of Homeowner and Family Services, she will continue leading and expanding efforts to support families from application to move in — helping future homeowners become financially prepared, confident, and successful long after closing day.
Before joining Habitat Catawba Valley, April spent 17 years in the banking industry, serving in a variety of roles ranging from teller to Branch Operations Manager. Her extensive experience in lending, financial education, and customer support has equipped her with a deep understanding of the challenges families face when pursuing homeownership, as well as the tools and encouragement needed to help them succeed.
Known for her compassionate and honest approach, April is passionate about empowering others to believe in themselves, build financial confidence, and create lasting stability for their families. Through coaching, education, and personalized support, she has helped many applicants navigate the path to homeownership with dignity and hope.
April spent much of her life in Colorado, where she met her husband and raised her 2 daughters before eventually making North Carolina home in 2023. She quickly fell in love with the Hickory area. Her passion for helping others navigate a path to homeownership led her to her role with Habitat Catawba Valley. Outside of work, April enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, refinishing furniture, and loves making memories with her daughters and grandbaby.
As Habitat Catawba Valley continues growing its impact across the community, April’s leadership, heart for service, and dedication to helping families succeed will play an important role in strengthening programs that support long-term housing stability, financial empowerment, and successful homeownership for families throughout their journey.
