📚 A Quick Note About Our Mission & Donated Books

At Hickam Library Friends, our mission is to support literacy throughout our military community. Everything we do—from supporting the JBPHH Library to donating books and materials to chapels, schools, ships’ libraries, Little Free Libraries, and other outreach programs—is done with that mission in mind.

We are incredibly grateful for the books and materials our community donates to us. Those donations are given with the understanding that they will be used to support literacy and benefit our military and local communities.

For that reason, Hickam Library Friends does not condone the resale of books or materials donated through our organization for personal profit.

We want to honor the generosity of our donors by making sure these resources continue serving the purpose for which they were given: putting books into the hands of readers and supporting literacy in our community. 📖🌺

Thank you to everyone who donates, volunteers, and helps us continue this mission!

We have heard your comments and we are working on them- we are looking into non-cash payment options, along with alleviating congestion issues. Please be patient with us as we find the best solutions ☺️

We will still have bookmarks for the kiddos to color while you browse 🖍️

Our next book sale is in a few weeks (flier to follow 😉) and we wanted some feedback!

Did you guys enjoy the Blind Date With a Book? The coloring bookmarks for kiddos? What could we improve on?

We love hearing constructive criticism so we can improve where we need to! Outside eyes are always best ☺️

Hi Book Friends 🤍

Unfortunately, our upcoming Hickam Library Friends Book Sale on April 4 will be **cancelled.**

As a volunteer-run organization, we’re taking a short pause while we prepare for our next book sale on **June 6**—our Third Annual "School’s Out” Book Sale, featuring free books for kids & teens and special deals for summer reading!

The good news? This is also a great opportunity to grow our team!

We are currently looking to fill two key volunteer roles:
✨ Secretary– meeting notes, outreach tracking, and correspondence
✨ Social Media & Marketing Manager – manages our page, posts in local groups, and shares flyers on base
✨ Both roles must be available to help support our in-person book sales when available.
