The Hiawatha Parks and Recreation Department announces the temporary closure of the Northeast section of trail beginning Friday, June 19, 2026, to allow for the construction of new pickleball and basketball courts within Turtle Creek Park.
The trail closure is necessary to ensure the safety of park visitors and construction crews as work progresses on these exciting new recreational amenities. The new courts are part of the City's ongoing investment in expanding outdoor recreation opportunities and enhancing the overall park experience for residents and visitors.
During construction, the affected section of the trail will be closed to all pedestrian and bicycle traffic. Park users are encouraged to follow all posted signage and avoid entering construction zones for their safety.
The Hiawatha Parks and Recreation Department will provide updates regarding construction progress and anticipated reopening dates through its website and social media channels.
