The Sons of The American Legion Squadron 624 are back in the kitchen and ready to kick off another great season!

Come hungry, bring your family and friends, and let us take care of breakfast! We’re looking forward to seeing some familiar faces—and hopefully some new ones too!

Just a reminder that Heyworth American Legion Post 624 is always open to the public. You do not need to be a Legion member to come out, enjoy a great meal, and support our Legion Family and community. If you have an upcoming event, the hall is a great place to host them!

The Sons of the American Legion would like to express our sincere gratitude to the residents of the Village of Heyworth and everyone from the surrounding communities for your continued support.

From June 1, 2025, through May 31, 2026, we proudly served more than 3,937 meals at our breakfasts, dinners, Fish Fries, car show, and Christmas Parade. When you include class reunions, family reunions, school events, celebrations of life, and other special gatherings hosted at the Legion, the total number of meals served is nearly 5,000!

Because of your support, the Sons of the American Legion were able to donate more than $15,470 to local organizations and community groups, school groups, and the Summer Leagues in need of assistance. The SAL had over 2,963 man hours volnteered!

Your generosity and patronage make everything we do possible. Together, we are making a difference in our community.

💜 🇺🇸 **PURPLE HEART DAY — AUGUST 7** 🇺🇸 💜

Today, we pause to honor the courageous men and women of the United States Armed Forces who were wounded or made the ultimate sacrifice while defending our nation.

The **Purple Heart** represents far more than a medal. It is a symbol of **courage, sacrifice, devotion to duty, and love of country**.

To every Purple Heart recipient from Heyworth and throughout the USA, and to their families who have shared in their sacrifice:

**We honor you.
We remember you.
We are forever grateful.**

May we never forget that the freedoms we enjoy were secured and defended by Americans willing to put their lives on the line.

Commander Rick Feger at the Detachment of Illinois Convention in Springfield. He's holding the certificate for Squadron 624 being named the 2025-26 Detachment of Illinois District 17 Squadron of the Year! He accepted the award from Detachment of Illinois Commander Wayne Madson.
